The Raksura chronicles: Martha Wells. It was a true delight to perceive a world from something not human and have them stay that way. The three worlds is truly alien. A chaotic realm of civilization built upon ruins built on ruins.

Book of the Ancestor Trilogy. Mark Lawrence. Nona is one of the best protagonists. Blunt as a war-hammer but perhaps the greatest friend ever. The world is brutal but Nona's relationships and obtaining a found family make this one this series rather sweet. Why is Nona great? She has flaws unlike Rey the Mary Sue.

The Lost Voices Trilogy: Soft spot mermaids. Love this interpretation of them. Great lead an kind soul with teeth and a backbone. Lucette's tactic to improve the world was so bold and wondrous. Threatening the world with heavy flooding if they decrease pollution and improve foster care. The good guys in real life just fight with strongly worded letters.

The Medusa Cycle: Emily Davenport: I loved the intrigue and the cybernetics. I am pro trans-human and it made it seem so wonderful. The implants did not remove humanity but it enhanced the experience. This future in these books is actually quite optimistic.

Scales: A Fresh Telling of Beauty and the Beast : Alydia Rackham. I adore the disney Beauty and the Beast. The romance between the leads was sweet and it was great to see a gender swap.

Fairy Queen Series: Amber Argyle. Such gorgeous covers. The protagonists are all good hearted but do not fall into the trap of sparing the most wretched.
